National Conference calls for lifting of ban issued in Kashmir, expresses deep objection to the stat

New Delhi: On October 5, a national conference was organized at Gandhi Shanti Pratishthan to lift the ban from Kashmir Valley and restore democratic freedom. Speakers at this session strongly objected to the fear created by the communal statement of the Home Minister on the NRC issue. The National Conference based on important topics like freedom and respect was jointly organized by SIO, UAH, APCR, Fraternity Movement, ICLU, PVCHR and Samvidhan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti. In the first session, a documentary based on the NRC process in Assam titled “Stateless-N” was performed. The documentary focused on those who had filed claims before the NRC about the problems and drawbacks of citizenship as well as the entire legal process. It described how the entire process of updating the NRC was handed over to a common bureaucrat, and which was plagued by complaints of several improper and faulty procedures. This is the first time in history that a state has jeopardized the rights of 1.9 million people through a simple bureaucratic process due to the negligence of its bureaucrats. This day will be remembered as the darkest day for the civil rights of independent India in history. The first session was addressed by Advocate HR Chaudhary of Assam, Nadeem Khan (United Against Hate), Labid Shafee (Chairman, SIO) and others. In the second session, a report titled “Parliament Watch” was released before the second Parliament session of the Modi government (Budget Session 2019-20). Which included an analysis based on all the bills passed in the last session of Parliament as well as important bills related to education, fundamental rights, national security and economy. Member of Parliament Dr. Manoj Jha released the report based on these Bills. The session was addressed by Dr. Ghazala Jamil of JNU, Suhail KK of Quill Foundation, Abdullah Azzam (former president, AMU Students Union) and senior journalist Anil Chamadia. Representatives of various organizations along with Shariq Ansar (Fraternity Movement), Anas Tanveer (ICLU) and Sayyid Azharuddin (General Secretary, SIO) etc. also addressed the closing session.
